Heavy rains are reported at Bambasi Camp, which accommodates over 13,000 Sudanese refugees in western Ethiopia near Blue Nile State of Sudan. This has damaged the homes of some refugees.
Refugees at the camp came since the outbreak of conflict in 2011 between the Sudan Armed Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, several refugees in the camp complained of the delay of food rations and a deteriorating humanitarian situation. Blue Nile refugees also that the heavy rains have caused their houses to start collapsing.
One refugee further explained that about four lightning strikes burnt houses in the camp on Friday, which caused panic and fear among the refugees.
“The incident in spite of lightening rods had been installed last year following a similar incident in the camp,” the refugee explained.
