The Sudanese government has reiterated its rejection for the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Blue Nile and South Kordofan regions from outside the country.

The Sudanese government has reiterated its rejection for the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Blue Nile and South Kordofan regions from outside the country.

The statement comes after the African Union mediator Thabo Mbeki announced his plan to visit Sudan to invite the warring parties for a new round of peace talks.

Information Minister Ahmed Bilal Osman told Radio Tamazuj that they will never accept the delivery of humanitarian assistance in the Two Areas through neighbouring countries.

Bilal pointed out that Mbeki will visit Khartoum soon to meet some officials on resumption of talks between the government and armed opposition groups.

“The African Union mediator Thabo Mbeki is expected to visit Sudan, and we hope there will be new things, our position is clear, we reject the delivery of humanitarian assistance through the neighbouring countries,” said Bilal.

Bilal, who is also the government spokesman, said that they also reject any proposal for two armies in Sudan. The official claimed that his government is ready to sign a peace deal to bring an end to ongoing conflict.
