Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir on Tuesday announced that his country has received a deposit worth half a billion US dollars from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Last week, President Bashir concluded a four-day visit to the United Arab Emirates where he discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaking during a meeting for the leadership office of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday morning, President Bashir said that the UAE has offered a $500 million central bank deposit.
He further said the UAE has also pledged to provide Sudan’s need of gasoline for about six months and establish a solar energy station that produces 1,000 megawatts of power daily.
On 4 November, the Sudanese government introduced an increase in the prices of fuel and electricity in an attempt to control the rise in the inflation rates.
