Sudan’s government and opposition have portrayed vastly different interpretations of the national dialogue in Khartoum, which questions its overall effectiveness.
The National Dialogue process has been an attempt by President Omar al Bashir to bring together the government and opposition parties in the country.
Bashir celebrated the final session of the dialogue and called on citizens to fight tribalism. He also extended the deadline of parties willing to join the process until December.
But Ibrahim al Sheikh, former chairperson of Sudanese conference party, downplayed the outcomes of the national dialogue, stressing that many opposition political parties had boycotted it. He added that the national dialogue did not put an end to war in the country. It has also not ended suffering of the people, nor provided economic solutions to the country.
