Sudan finance minister returns from visit to Washington

Sudan's Minister of Finance and National Economy Badr-Eddin Mahmoud has briefed the Sudanese president on the outcome of his visit to Washington to attend meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

As quoted by state-run Sudan News Agency, the minister said that the visit was positive, pointing out that he discussed with officials from the World Bank and IMF the relations between them and Sudan.

Mahmoud added that he also briefed a number of American officials on developments in Sudan, including the Secretary of Treasury and Congressional members. He urged them to lift sanctions and write off the debts of Sudan.

“The minister revealed that it was the first time to prepare a meeting with the prominent media organs in the United States of America besides a number of activists of international relations in a round table” held at the Atlanta Centre for Studies and Research, SUNA reported.
