Sudan’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Badr-Eddin Mahmoud has commended the improving relations between Sudan and Saudi Arabia. This comes after Sudan supported Saudi Arabia’s war against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The minister said in press statements Wednesday that his ministry signed two new agreements with the Saudi Fund for Development to finance oil products and fertilizers in Sudan.
He added the volume of exchange of trade with Saudi Arabia reached 4 billion riyals and that the coming period will witness revival of relations between the private sectors in the two countries.
In related news, the Sudan News Agency reported that the Arab Monetary Fund has agreed to hold a regional training program in Khartoum.
Sudan’s finance ministry and the fund reached an agreement to host the event in early 2016. The training will focus on preparation and implementation of budgets. This comes after a visit to Sudan by a Fund delegation led by Dr Mustafa Quara.
As quoted by SUNA, Mahmoud underlined the importance of Sudanese financial institutions and agencies making use of support provided by the Arab Monetary Fund. The meeting was held in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Abdul-Rahman Mohammed Hassan and the Undersecretary of the Economic Planning Agency, Abdalla Ibrahim.
