Sudan Dialogue participants not informed about Addis Ababa meeting

Some of the participants at Sudan’s National Dialogue have yet to be notified about arrangements for a preparatory meeting to be held in Addis Ababa, a member of the dialogue’s governance and outcomes committee said.

Dr. Saad-Eddin Mohammed Al-Tayib told Radio Tamazuj that they have only heard about the preparatory meeting abroad via media.

“As members of the committees, nobody informed us until now,” he said. “They haven’t given us any information. All the committees, we haven’t got any information neither from the 7+7 committee, the general secretariat, nor the presidency.”

Sudan’s Minister of Information Ahmed Bilal Osman and member of the 7+7 committee told Radio Tamazuj Tuesday that members of the Liaison Committee tasked to contact armed movements inside and outside the country would be selected by Wednesday, yesterday.

He claimed that the members will be selected among the participants within six committees of the National Dialogue in coordination with the 7+7 mechanism.

“The committee will meet them and hear their views and then call for the dialogue,” he said.

Bilal stressed that they do not recognize the preparatory conference. However, he said they will participate in the meeting in order to consult with the armed movements in the presence of the AU chief mediator.
