Sudanese security agents are still launching a campaign of mass arrests among political activists in Abu Jubeiha Locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan state.

This campaign comes shortly after an unknown group wrote banners where they expressed their anger about poor basic services and persistent power blackouts for more than four months in the area.

A source told Radio Tamazuj that the number of recently arrested activists is at five.

Those arrested include Mohamed Adam El Jarar, 26, from Busta area, El Dou Kambal Suleiman, 25, Abdul Ghafar Saeed, 24, and El Buseili Saleh, 26. Also arrested is Motaz El Jaili Sharik, 30, a veterinarian.

As of the second day of Eid El Adha, local citizens organized protests demanding the release of detainees, according to a source.

The security agents called on the protesting citizens to form a negotiating committee on the possible release of the detained activists. Meanwhile another source suggested that some of the detainees have already been transported to the capital Khartoum.
