Sudan: Court adjourns Christian girls’ cases until 9 July

Sudan’s Public Order Court in Khartoum has charged one female student of indecency for allegedly wearing indecent clothes.

Sudan’s Public Order Court in Khartoum has charged one female student of indecency for allegedly wearing indecent clothes.

Police authorities stopped 12 female students as they left the Baptist church at Taiba Al Hamda north of Khartoum after a church celebration on Thursday.

The girls were reportedly taken to Al Sababi police post in Khartoum North before being released to appear before the court Sunday.

Mohannad Mustafa, defense lawyer of the accused girls said the court charged one girl and postponed consideration of the other cases until 9 to 13 July.

The students face 10 separate charges that will be looked into by the court, according to Mustafa.

The lawyer confirmed that the court will start hearing the defense lawyer on the case of the the girl facing charges under 152 of the Sudanese penal code in the coming sitting.
