Sudan condemns former US envoy's calls to arm South Sudan

The government in Khartoum has condemned the former US envoy to Sudan, Andrew S. Natsios calling to arm the South Sudanese army.

Natsios denied his intentions to disrupt negotiations between the two countries, but said the US should assist South Sudan with anti-aircraft defence missiles.

Ibrahim Ghandour, the Sudanese government's secretary for external relations told reporters in Khartoum that the US official was 'dressed as a mediator' but is in fact an 'enemy of the country'.
