At least seven people from the Ajaira and another seven from the Falaita clans of the Misseriya Arab tribe were killed in clashes between the two clans in Dabab town in Sudan’s West Kordofan state.
Hassan Mekki, a Misseriya leader, told Radio Tamazuj that the clashes took place at Um Baron village on Wednesday evening, saying the clashes continued on Thursday at El Dabker and Kilo 50 areas.
According to the tribal leader, at least seven people were killed on the spot during the tribal clashes between the two sides and over 28 people wounded, who were taken to a hospital in El Fula town and others were taken to Dabab town for treatment.
Mekki also pointed out that a peace and reconciliation committee apparently failed to contain the conflict. He said about four members of the peace committee were themselves killed, adding that the number casualties from the clashes on Thursday have not yet been confirmed.
