Damazin town in Sudan’s Blue Nile state is facing a shortage of bread at bakeries due to a lack of flour in the area, according to a local official who preferred anonymity.
Several citizens told Radio Tamazuj that they line up for several hours to get bread. The local official further said the state has not yet received its quantity of flour from the national government.
Meanwhile, local residents attributed the problem in part to the approach of the month of Ramadan. They accused local traders of hoarding essential commodities until the fasting month begins.
Separately, citizens in Sudan’s capital Khartoum reported fuel shortage over the last four days affecting movement of public transports, with taxi drivers lining up at petrol stations.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, several local residents said school transports did not take children to schools due to the fuel shortage. However, they said the bad situation had improved a little bit over the last two days, while some petrol stations remained closed.
