Sudan blocking aid to Blue Nile state

The chairman of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement North said Sudan is blocking aid to Blue Nile state.

Malik Agar told the BBC that more than 200,000 people are desperately in need of humanitarian assistance, raising a real imminent risk of famine across the region.

He said that some elderly people, children and pregnant women have already died in the state.

Agar appealed to the international community to intervene and assist the vulnerable 200,000 population before the rainy season starts and complicates the situation further.
