Local residents in Al Meiram in Sudan’s West Kordofan State confirmed the arrival of newly deployed soldiers and militia supported by the Khartoum government in the state, saying there was heavy military build-up since last week.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the residents claimed that there are also South Sudan soldiers at Al-Jeraf area, which is part of Al-Meiram Locality.

They pointed out that the military build-up comes after the recent clashes between cattle keepers and soldiers believed to be from South Sudan. At least five herders were reported killed in the attack in Al Meiram.
