Sudanese military aircraft conducted airstrikes on Sunday and Monday morning, targeting positions held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in several locations in White Nile State, sparking reports of civilian casualties.

Local sources told Radio Tamazuj Monday morning that warplanes bombed RSF sites, destroying vehicles and military equipment in the El Alaga area and its surrounding villages.

On Sunday, a military source said the Sudanese army aircraft bombed several positions of the Rapid Support Forces in White Nile State, targeting four RSF bases in the Al Gitaina locality, inflicting “heavy losses on them.”

The source indicated that the battles between the army and the Rapid Support Forces led to the displacement of residents of several villages, most notably the villages of Wad Al-Zaki, Wad Shalayi, and Al-Dumbo, located south of the Al-Gitaina locality.

The RSF side could not immediately be reached for comment.

There have been increasing calls from the international community to avert a humanitarian disaster that could push millions into famine and death due to food shortages caused by the fighting in Sudan.

Since mid-April last year, the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been waging a war that has left around 15,000 dead and more than 8 million displaced and refugees, according to the UN figures.
