Sudan Appeal signatory calls for preparatory conference

Farah Agar, member of the Sudan Appeal declaration who was released recently by security, has demanded a preparatory conference to pave the way for a transitional government of national unity or a national political dialogue.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Agar said the preparatory conference will draw a new roadmap for the future of Sudan through an interim period.

He stressed that the ongoing election is not the solution and that will not lead to anywhere. He said the vote is being imposed by the ruling party.

Agar said the preparatory meeting can address the roots causes of Sudan's problem and come up with a roadmap for the nation's future.

Agar and two other opposition politicians signed the “Sudan Call” document with armed opposition movements last December but was arrested on arrival at the Khartoum airport upon returning.

They were put on trial for 'waging war against the state', among other charges, but were released last week for 'political' reasons, according to authorities.
