The “Sudan Appeal” opposition coalition on Monday reiterated its position to sign the African Union peace roadmap agreement presented by Thabo Mbeki.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the coalition in Khartoum, Mariam Al-Sadiq Al Mahdi, deputy head of the National Umma Party (NUP), described the African Union roadmap as “a good document” in its all chapters except chapter 3 which needs clarification.

The leading opposition party member confirmed their readiness to engage in dialogue process with the Khartoum government.

For his part, Omar Al-Degair, head of the Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) and member of the National Consensus Force, said they will never engage in any dialogue with the Khartoum government until the African Union responds to their petition.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Diaa, spokesperson of the Arab Socialist Baath Party which is part of the National Consensus Force, criticized the Sudan Appeal force for seeking to sign the African Union roadmap.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Diaa said they reject the recent meetings of the Sudan Appeal force in Paris, saying resolutions of the meeting do not represent the position of the National Consensus Force.
