Sudanese officials have said South Sudanese seeking refuge in Sudan will be treated as refugees, after violence erupted among them at Khor Waral refugee camp in White Nile State destroying part of the camp.
South Sudanese refugees had been treated as citizens in terms of service provision before the Sudanese government in March last year announced that South Sudanese in Sudan will be regarded as foreigners.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday in Khartoum, the director of civil registration Nasir Mohammed Yusuf said they will now enforce the law.
The recent violence among South Sudanese at Khor Waral refugee camp led to the burning of many tents including destruction of the camp administration.
