Calm has returned to the National Health Training Institute in Yei, South Sudan, after an outbreak of unrest among medical students.
A local radio station reported that some students “held a rampage” demanding improvement of the facilities and increment of their transport fees.
Damian Lemeri Frezer, an administrator at the health institute, said that the administration managed to calm the situation with the students after they held a demonstration.
He said there are still ongoing negotiation in Juba among the institution’s staff, government and the staff from Norwegian Peoples Aid on how to solve issues affecting the students.
Lemeri said normal lessons have since resumed.
