One student was killed and three others injured Wednesday at Omdurman Ahlia University when a group of students affiliated to the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) stormed an event organized by the Nuba Mountains University Students Association.
Multiple sources from the university told Radio Tamazuj that the NCP supporters started shooting at students, killing a student called Mohamed Al-Sadiq Wieu and wounding three others, some sustained serious injuries.
One of female students said the bloody clashes initially erupted last week when students belonging to opposition Popular Congress Party (PCP) attacked a gathering organized by students affiliated to the United Popular Front (UPF).
She explained that a blind student from the Nuba Mountains region was wounded in that attack, prompting the Nuba Mountains Students Association on Wednesday to call for a rally, which was stormed again by the NCP students.
The university student noted that police personnel and security forces surrounded the university and prevented students from entering or leaving the campus yesterday.

College suspends studies
The administration of the University of Khartoum issued a decision suspending studies at the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences without giving reasons.
According to the chancellor’s decision, the suspension of classes came as a recommendation from members of the faculty board.
The move to suspend the studies comes after a campaign of arrests among students by security agents after protests over a reported plan to sell the university buildings to investors.
