Student groups clash at Sennar University

Student political groups clashed at Sennar University during an event organized by opposition groups. Calm has now returned to the university. Yesterday witnessed clashes between students affiliated to the ruling National Congress Party and those of other parties. A student activist explained that the event began after students of the National Congress Party assaulted a rally organized by the congress of independent students, who were discussing the reasons for the separation of South Sudan from Sudan last year. The activist, who declined to give his name, told Radio Tamazuj that ten students were injured. They were treated at al-Suki hospital. Another four students from the congress of independent students were detained by the security organs. Reportedly one of these students by the name Ahmed Yusif was released after being injured on his right hand.
