Striking students suspended in Kuacjok

Third year students at Kuacjok National Secondary School have been temporally suspended for their alleged involvement in a strike.

Third year students at Kuacjok National Secondary School have been temporally suspended for their alleged involvement in a strike.

The students went on strike on Thursday to protest against the South Sudan education system which has students to sit for national examinations in their fourth year.

The students said they want to sit the national examinations in the third year, as was the custom under Sudan’s system.

The principal of Kuacjok National Secondary School, Mayen Mayen Jongkoor Wol, told Radio Miraya that a decision has been made to suspend the third year students pending a review of their complaints.

He said the decision was made by the state govenrment, the ministry of education, and the school administration.

“The decision was very simple that third year has to stay away from school for a while until their issue is reviewed and resolved by the state minister of education,” he said.
