Stranded returnees in South Sudan petition Vice-President

The chairman of the High Committee of Payuar returnee camp in Renk, Upper Nile state, announced they have delivered a petition to South Sudan’s Vice-President, James Wani Igga, in which they request him to support the transport of stranded returnees to their respective areas across South Sudan.

The chairman of the High Committee of Payuar returnee camp in Renk, Upper Nile state, announced they have delivered a petition to South Sudan’s Vice-President, James Wani Igga, in which they request him to support the transport of stranded returnees to their respective areas across South Sudan.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Pascualla Bafram confirmed that the High Committee, formed by the returnees, has petitioned the Vice-President, demanding from the government to transport them to their different destinations.

Bafram reaffirmed that hundreds of South Sudanese families have stranded in Renk. Their conditions are worsening due to a shortage of services.

“We had sent a similar petition to humanitarian organisations but to no avail. I hope the latest petition to the Vice-President will get due consideration” he added.

The stranded people in Payuar returnee camp accuse South Sudan’s national government of “failing” to transport them. Fellow returnees at Abayok and the land port have indeed received support.
