A three-day training on trauma healing, counseling and reconciliation that was on Thursday in Yei town, brought together more than 30 participants representing community leaders, civil society organizations, women, youth, faith-based groups, government and journalists in the state.
The training was organized by Centre for Democracy and Development (CEDED) in collaboration with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The workshop aimed at equipping participants with new skills on trauma healing, counseling and reconciliation.
Speaking during the closing of the training, Arike Benson, one of the participants, thanked the organization for quipping them with new skills. He promised to disseminate messages of trauma healing, resilience and confidence-building among traumatized victims in the area.
“I have learned new things from this training. It has helped me, I am ready to help my neighbors and I want to tell the participants to pass the same messages of trauma healing to tell our brothers and others so that counseling from our level will reach up to our president so that we reconcile and heal our nation altogether,” said Arike.
Esther Africana, another participant, said she will explain the importance of counseling, healing and reconciliation to her community for the sake of peace in the country.
For is part, the Program Manager of Centre for Democracy and Development (CEDED), appreciated the stakeholders for their positive participation.
The manager called on the participants to be agents of trauma healing and peace-building at the grassroots level so as to transform the communities in South Sudan.
Meanwhile, Emma Meling, the Assistant Commissioner for Gender and Social Development, thanked the organization and its partner for organizing the training in the state. She urged the organization to conduct more trainings on various fields.
