SSPDF, SPLA-IO commanders discuss security arrangements in Yei

Lam Paul Gabriel, spokesman for Machar's SPLA-IO armed movement, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that military officials from the SPLA-IO and SSPDF met at the military headquarters in Yei town and agreed to allow humanitarian access and free movement of people in the state.

 “We are very happy that we met with the government military leadership in Yei and also met the state governor. We have agreed to implement the security arrangements in letter and Spirit. I am also happy meeting and greeting ourselves with the civilians and the army freely,” Lam said.

He appealed to the people of South Sudan to move freely saying time has come for peace, reconciliation and forgiveness.

For his part, SSPDF spokesman Lul Ruai Koang welcomed the positive development shown by the SPLA-IO military leadership in the state.

Lul further said the SSPDF and SPLA-IO leaders will work together to implement the security arrangements.

The army officer reiterated the SSPDF’s commitment to implement the signed peace agreement.

The meeting between the SPLA-IO and SSPDF officials in Yei was facilitated by the ceasefire monitoring and verification body (CTSAMVM).
