A group of government soldiers shot and killed a civilian in Waat County of Bieh State on Wednesday, a local official said.
County Commissioner Isaac Pur Ruot told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the incident occurred when a young man ambushed a group of soldiers who were on patrol on the outskirt of Waat town.
“Those soldiers were on patrol when they were ambushed by a young man but no one was hurt. But as they exchanged gunfire, they killed that armed young man on the spot. The reason for the attack on the soldiers is not clear,” he explained.
The local official however pointed out that the area is calm, saying they had informed the family of the deceased about circumstances that led to the death.
