The incident occurred in Nyanlath Payam on Friday last week.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Northern Bahr el Ghazal Police Spokesman Captain Guot Guot Akol said the suspect, identified as Chan Uguak Mayuot, had been arrested by the police

“On July 23, we received a report from the area of Anguei in Nyanlath Payam that Chan Uguak, an SSPDF soldier killed his brother, Garang Uguak Mayuot, by cutting him into pieces using an ax. We rushed to the scene, took the deceased to the hospital, and the accused was arrested by the military intelligence,” Akol explained.

He said the suspect is being detained at the military’s third division headquarters at Wunyiik, located not far away from Wanyjok town.

The police officer said the suspect would appear in court for trial.

He warned the public to avoid taking the law in their own hands, urging them to use proper channels of resolving outstanding issues.
