A military police officer identified as Marop Domkoch was on Tuesday shot dead by yet-to-be-identified individuals in Cueibet County in Lakes State.

Major Elijah Mabor Makuac, the police spokesperson in Lakes State, told Radio Tamazuj that the deceased who works in Juba had taken permission from his superiors to go home and follow up on the case of his wife committing adultery in Cuiebet. 

“The soldier was attached to the  SSPDF military police and came from Juba because his wife committed adultery with another man in Cueibet County when the deceased was away.,” he explained. “When he arrived, he found that the case had already been settled and  the man accused of committing adultery with his wife was sentenced to pay seven head of cattle.”

“The only issue was that the man (adulterer) did not pay the cattle,” Major Mabor added. 

He said that Domkoch was gunned down by an unknown assailant in the evening when he was returning home from Cueibet town.

" So, people are trying to investigate if he had no other case apart from the one of his wife,” Mabor said. “Is it someone else that targeted him or was he killed by the person who committed adultery with his wife? “

Meanwhile, Maciek Matur, a resident of Cueibet said the deceased soldier had gone to the county headquarters to file a case with the police. He appealed to the state authorities to improve security in the county and also to bring Domkoch’s killer to book. 

Matur also warned that the issue might escalate into cyclic revenge attacks if the killer is not arrested & held accountable.
