The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) interim leader Gabriel Changson Chang urged the breakaway group of the opposition alliance to stop using his group’s name and logo.
On Tuesday, the holdout opposition groups issued a statement announcing they broke away from the SSOA group led by Gabriel Changson and formed another SSOA under the leadership of Gen. Thomas Cirilo.
The new SSOA faction includes the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Thomas Swaka, People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) led by Hakim Dario, National Democratic Movement (NDM) led by Emmanuel Aban, South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC) of Vakindi L. Unvu and the United Democratic Republic Alliance (UDRA).
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Gabriel Changson Chang, interim leader of the opposition alliance, said his group welcomes the decision taken by the holdout groups to form a separate entity.
However, Gabriel said the breakaway group of SSOA should not use the logo of the main opposition alliance.
“We have concerns because they are using our logo and name. They are supposed to have their own identity,” he said.
