The Northern Bahr el Ghazal parliament has summoned the State Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Anguei Diing Diing over alleged absenteeism from office, but the minister failed to appear before the parliament.
Anguei was appointed by Caretaker Governor Kuel Aguer in October 2014. The parliament spokesman claims that he has been absent for most of the time since his appointment.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the state assembly Achak Thiep Thiep confirmed that the minister has been summoned for three times by the lawmakers.
According to Achak, the minster was summoned also to answer questions about how he spent the budget of 2014/2015.
“We have summoned the Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport who is absent from the office for almost one year to appear before the House to explain why he is absent from the office. Honourable Minister did not answer through written letter to the assembly. Again he was given another letter to come and he did not also respond,” he said.
The MP added, “Again in sitting number 44 we tabled his issue. Our August House has referred his issue back to leadership we will also later on decide the road to the acting governor or to table an agenda again for the August House to make decision.”
