SPLM Youth League Chairman Garang Wol Kon is defiant after his suspension from an education ministry position by the caretaker governor for “political activism,” saying that he remains the party youth leader in the state and cannot be removed by the governor.
Wol said that the governor has no powers to remove him because he was nominatted by the SPLM state Liberation Council. “I am still SPLM youth chairperson in Aweil,” he said.
Wol was among four officials suspended by the governor in directives made yesterday.
Another source told Radio Tamazuj that the officials were not removed for what they did but they were removed for loyalty to the ousted caretaker governor Kuel Aguer and opposition to General Paul Malong. The source speaking on Tuesday also said that he expects another group of officials to be dismissed by Acting Governor Chol Ayat in the coming days.
