SPLM secretary general removed in Pariang County

The SPLM Secretary-General in Pariang County in South Sudan’s Unity state Them Machar Kuol has been removed from office due to alleged violations of the party’s constitution, the party’s chairman Mabak Lang Mading said.

The SPLM Secretary-General in Pariang County in South Sudan’s Unity state Them Machar Kuol has been removed from office due to alleged violations of the party’s constitution, the party’s chairman Mabak Lang Mading said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Babek said the Liberation Council last week decided to remove Machar and that William Nyuon Ojau was selected as his replacement.

Mabak further said the SPLM secretariat in the county was also dissolved for violation of the constitution by the members who had been working in the secretariat.

The Secretary-General was suspended in February after violating the party’s constitution, according to Mabak.

Mabak, who is also the deputy governor, said several party members were also removed for the same reasons.

He said the decision had nothing to do with the upcoming elections, but that the decision was taken to reform within the party.  He indicated that the former Secretary General failed to perform his duties as required.

“Comrade Machar will still be a member of the liberation council. It a normal change in the County” he said.

Mabak pointed out that David Thon Majok was also appointed as SPLM deputy chairman and five other members were appointed as assistants to the Sectary General.

He added that four thematic committees were established in the liberation council and directors were also appointed in the secretariat.

He said the new change represents unity among local citizens in Pariang County.
