The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-North) has announced its readiness to join the ongoing National Dialogue if it is balanced between all political parties and opposition groups.
In a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj, Yasser Arman, Secretary General of the SPLM-North, said they welcome efforts exerted to push for the ongoing National Dialogue in Khartoum.
He considered it as a preliminary stage that should be developed into a second phase starting from the signing of the African Union peace roadmap agreement.
Yasser Arman, who is also the SPLM-North chief negotiator at the ongoing peace talks, emphasized the need to stop fighting in various areas in Sudan. He also demanded humanitarian access from inside and outside in the war-affected areas in South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Darfur regions, while confirming their readiness for a one-year truce.
Direct peace talks started on Wednesday between the Khartoum government and the SPLM-North team in Addis Ababa.
