Malik Agar, chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-North) has reaffirmed his readiness to discuss serious proposals to ensure humanitarian access in the South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions.
Addressing SPLM-North forces on 4 February, Malik Agar said his movement categorically rejects attempts by the Khartoum government to control humanitarian operations like what happened in Darfur.
Agar denied reports that he refused a proposition providing that USAID would transport humanitarian medical assistance to citizens in the war affected areas in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.
The rebel leader admitted that they had expressed reservations on the American proposal. He added that the African Union mediation has not yet approached them to discuss its proposal.
The SPLM-North leader reiterated their commitment to ceasefire, while calling on his forces to respect the ceasefire for six month if there is no any attack by the Khartoum government.
