SPLM-North accuses govt delegation of backtracking from framework agreement

The SPLM-North delegation at the ongoing peace talks in Addis Ababa has accused the government delegation of reneging on all previous agreements reached during the last three years including the framework agreement.

 In a press release seen by Radio Tamazuj yesterday, the SPLM-North delegation said that the government delegation walked out of the negotiations table when the SPLM-North team decided to stick to the previous framework agreement which is also incorporated in the signed African Union peace roadmap agreement.

However, the opposition group pointed out that the African Union mediators were exerting efforts hard so the peace talks go ahead.

For his part, Hassan Hamid, spokesman of the government delegation at the talks, told Ashrooq TV that the two teams reached a breakthrough on security arrangements on Wednesday night.

He pointed out the two delegations agreed that the framework document agreed upon during the last rounds of talks will be adopted to be aligned with the African Union roadmap as the binding document.

The spokesman revealed that the two teams also agreed to form a team from each side to comprise of “4 + 1″to immediately start the alignment of timings between the two documents with respect to security matters and humanitarian track.
