Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Lodi said that the decision came at the right time, adding that it aims to reform the movement.

Ludi appealed to all members of the SPLM-N to support the new leadership to implement what the people of Sudan want.

When asked about the negative impacts of the ongoing rift within the movement, Lodi claimed that the SPLM-N is currently much stronger than before. He pointed out that the new leadership will work to achieve all objectives of the movement.

For his part, Malik Agar rejected the decision, describing it as a “coup d’état" based on tribal alliances. He dressed that a coup cannot lead and build a democratic national movement and will not be accepted by the Movement’s members and leaders.

Agar called to form a temporary leadership to hold a general conference and elect a new leadership, while stressing that he and his secretary general Yasser Arman would not run for any position again.
