The office for humanitarian affairs of the SPLM-N has reported cases of polio, blindness diseases, allergies and other respiratory diseases in the area controlled by SPLM-N in Blue Nile.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Ishraga Ahmed Khamis, an official from SPLM-N office for humanitarian affairs, said the emergence of these diseases was due to lack of vaccination and the dire humanitarian conditions children are facing as a result of the war.
She added that the recent air booming by Sudan Air Force in Blue Nile since April forced many civilians to flee their homes.
“Since April until now people in Blue Nile are suffering from humanitarian crisis and now cases of polio are emerging among children and other diseases which were found in the area,” said Ishraga.
Ishraga called on the international community to put more pressure on the government in Khartoum to separate political issues from humanitarian ones in the expected talks with SPLM-N so that civilians can get access to humanitarian assistance.
