A senior member of the SPLM-N who preferred anonymity said the movement’s top leadership has formed a committee to help resolve its internal differences.
Over the past two weeks, SPLM-N deputy chairman Abdel-Aziz Adam Al-Hilu tendered his resignation due to sharp differences within the ranks of top leadership.
He told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the members of the committee include Gen. Izat Kuku, the SPLA-N deputy chief of general staff, Tijani Tima, secretary general for the Nuba Mountains region and Gen. Suleiman Jabona, the acting governor of Nuba Mountains.
He pointed out that the new committee will meet with Abdel-Aziz Al-Hilu in an attempt to find an amicable solution to the movement’s international differences.
The same official noted that the Nuba Mountains Liberation Council held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the decision taken by the SPLM-N leadership cancelling the decisions of the Nuba Mountains Liberation Council and calling for election of a new body to represent the region.
Meanwhile, Gen. Ahmed Balga, the former commander of the SPLA-N in Darfur, downplayed Agar’s statement revoking the council’s decision, saying the decisions taken by the Nuba body came after evaluation.
