The Secretary-General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Yasir Arman has described the death sentence against him and SPLM Chairman, Malik Agar, as a mere political decision.
“The SPLM-N does not recognise the verdicts issued by Judge Abdel Munim Yunis of the Sinja Special Court,” Arman told the press on Saturday. “I am prepared to appear before the Sinja judge if President Al Bashir agrees to appear before the judges of the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands.”
The SPLM-N Secretary-General stated that “the execution of the political detainees, even the fact that the Sudanese government considered them as Prisoners of War, is a clear violation of the laws, treaties and international conventions”. “This will increase the cycle of hostility, and the Khartoum regime will pay the price.”
