SPLM-N denies peace rumors with Khartoum 'as bombings continue'

The Sudanese rebel movement SPLM-N denies it signed a peace treaty with Khartoum in the Ethiopian capital this week. Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, the rebels spokesman, told Radio Tamazuj in an exclusive interview that “these are just rumors and Khartoum is not interested in peace at all.”

He further accused the Khartoum regime for the continued killing of innocent civilians during the Eid Al Fitr, citing the recent air bombings on Shamshaka village in Rashad locality of South Kordofan. Several sources confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that people were killed and others were injured as a result of the air raids “carried out by the Sudanese Air Forces”.

“The Antonov dropped four bombs on farms surrounding the village of Shamshaka at 2pm, causing extensive destruction,” Lodi said. “At 2:15pm, the two MiGs dropped four bombs into the village itself, targeting two mosques and the market.”

Lodi said that the raid caused extensive damage. “Madina Ismail Al Agied (37) was killed. The 14-year-old Ishraga Hassan Al Jamri, and Abdulla Abu Rejla Abdulla (65) were wounded.”

“In addition to the serious damage to the mosques, a house belonging to Mohamed Albasha was damaged, while four goats belonging to Osman Musa Bokhari were killed.”
