The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) announced that it killed 15 army and militia troops, and wounded others in El Atmor, South Kordofan, on Saturday.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, SPLM-N spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said that the rebel fighters killed 15 army and militia troops, and wounded a large number of other troops in an attack on El Atmor, east of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan.
According to Lodi, the SPLM-N combatants also destroyed a T-55 tank, and six military vehicles, including two anti-aircraft cannons. He acknowledged the death of three rebel fighters. Seven were wounded.
The SPLM-N spokesman added that their artillery unit shelled military targets in Kadugli, Daldako, and El Hamra, stressing that the SPLM-N is determined to chase the government troops from El Atmor.
Sudanese army spokesman, El Sawarmi Khaled Saad, told the media that government forces repelled SPLM-N insurgents who attempted to attack the area of El Atmor on Saturday.
According to Saad, 50 rebels were killed in the battle.
