SPLM-N accuses Khartoum of obstructing the delivery of war prisoners

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement North (SPLM-N) has accused the Sudanese government of obstructing the delivery of prisoners of war in their custody and preventing their transfer to the Sudanese capital Khartoum through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

In a press statement extended to Radio Tamazuj, the SPLM-N said it has formed a committee to evacuate the war prisoners through the (ICRC) from Kauda in South Kordofan and Yabus in Blue Nile to Assosa in Ethiopia after they agreed with the Sudanese government.

They added that the committee began its work in these areas with the Red Cross, a delegation from the Reform and Renaissance Initiative and the consul of the Sudanese government after the approval from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Ghandour.

The parties had reportedly agreed to the arrival of the prisoners to Khartoum via Assosa in Ethiopian on 23 and 24 of June but they have not yet arrived.
