SPLM-IO official dies in Uganda

Duol Tut, a leading member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In-Opposition (SPLM-IO), died in the Ugandan capital, Kampala on Sunday. He was 43 years old.

Duol was a deputy governor for 'Sobat State'.

James Banak Riang, the opposition-appointed governor for 'Sobat State', told Radio Tamazuj Sunday that his deputy died after succumbing to cancer at the Nsambya Hospital.

He added that the deputy governor had been battling cancer after being diagnosed three months ago. "His death is a great loss to the community, but this is the will of God," Banak said.

The senior SPLM-IO official pointed out that arrangements are underway to bring the body back home for burial.
