Officials of the armed opposition led by Riek Machar have denied reports that Angelina Teny was nominated as the 3rd vice president.
Angelina Teny, wife of the South Sudan’s opposition leader Riek Machar, is now the head of the movement’s national committee for security and defence.
Puok Kang, leader of the SPLM-IO youth wing, told Radio Tamazuj from Addis Ababa this afternoon that the peace talks are ongoing and that there was no any agreement signed on governance.
“The alleged claim that a political war erupted within the SPLM-IO between Cde Henry Odwar and Angelina Teny about the nomination of a candidate to the position of 3rd Vice-President is not true,” he said.
The youth leader further said his group’s position on the peace talks does not desire to occupy the position of the 3rd Vice President.
The South Sudanese parties at the peace talks are expected to report back to the regional mediation today.
