A consultative meeting of the SPLM-In Opposition led by former vice president Riek Machar was scheduled to convene on Saturday in border town of Pagak near Ethiopia.
The long awaited conference is a part of the IGAD-led peace efforts between the SPLA-Juba led by President Salva Kiir and SPLA-IO.
SPLM-IO deputy head of information and public relations Manawa Peter Gatkuoth said that a meeting of the leadership bureau was held last Friday to discuss the agenda of the consultative meeting.
Manawa, who is also the official rebel spokesperson, said the meeting will last for three to five days.
The former Jonglei state minister of physical infrastructure confirmed that all the SPLM-IO delegates have already arrived in Pagak including General Pater Gadet Yak.
He said the conference will dwell on a wide-range of issues pertaining to the peace talks in Addis Ababa. Manawa pointed out that they will discuss the recent proposal regarding the powers of the president and prime minister.
The spokesman further said they will discuss the intra-SPLM dialogue that took place in Arusha, Tanzania and other issues arising from ongoing negotiations in Addis Ababa.
Organizational matters concerning the SPLA-IO movement and its armed wing will also be discussed.
The meeting was meant to begin nearly three weeks ago but was delayed due to various organizational and logistical problems.
