Paul Bor Garwich, the SPLM-IO chief whip in the national parliament in Juba, says he will resume work in the coming year.

Bor, a Member of Parliament allied to the SPLM-IO faction led by the country’s First Vice-President, stayed away from sittings of parliament for several months.

Bor told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that he has been away due to health and family issues, saying he has not resigned from his position as speculated.

Bor confirmed that he missed six parliamentary sittings so far.

According to the national assembly’s conduct of business protocol, a lawmaker losses his or her seat after missing over twelve parliamentary sessions without permission.
