Former SPLM secretary-general Pagan Amum said a planned visit by the Tanzanian and South African ruling parties and the SPLM-10 group to South Sudan’s capital Juba has been postponed until June.
The meeting was part of the follow-up work of a tripartite committee tasked to implement the Arusha SPLM Reunification Agreement.
Pagan Amum pointed out that they were informed by the two guarantors that the visit was postponed due to the ongoing military escalation by the Juba government.
The leading SPLM member predicted the meeting will be conducted in the first or second week of June, saying they have communication with the mediators of the Arusha Agreement. Pagan also revealed that his group will visit South Africa this week.
