A meeting to reunite the fragmented factions of the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM) is scheduled to take place in Juba on April 19.
Vice President James Wani Igga, who doubles as deputy chairman of the SPLM faction led by Salva Kiir, said in a Thursday statement that the meeting will bring together the fractured factions of the SPLM party.
Igga pointed out that they had invited the opposition group led by South Sudan’s rebel leader Riek Machar and former detainees Pagan Amum to attend the meeting aimed at the reunification of the different factions of the party.
The factions are SPLM led by Salva Kiir, SPLM-In-Opposition led by Riek Machar, SPLM-In-Opposition led by Taban Deng, and Former Detainees (FD) led by Pagan Amum.
It remains unclear whether the opposition group led by Riek Machar will attend the meeting or not.
