The Secretary-General of the Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army in Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) Regina Joseph Kaba arrived in Yambio, the headquarters of Western Equatoria State on Tuesday this week.

Speaking after her arrival, Ms. Regina said she visited the state to discuss party matters. 

“I am so happy to be here with you people, it is my first time to be here in Yambio. So this is an official visit, we are here for a party visit with our party mission," she explained. So we will discuss issues on how to manage our party and fulfill our objectives."

Meanwhile, Western Equatoria State Governor Alfred Futuyo, also the state party chairman welcomed his party officials and assured her that her security was guaranteed during her mission.

“We have the director of police, director of prisons, and director of national security with us here. They are aware of your coming and the time you will spend here. They have put in place arrangements for your security," he assured her. 

Thousands of SPLM/A IO members and citizens gathered at the SPLM/A-IO state secretariat to receive the party's secretary general.

This is the first time a senior member of the party has visited the state since the formation of the government of national unity in 2020.
