SPLA spokesman Col. Philip Aguer has welcomed a church-led peace agreement signed between the local community and SPLA commanders in Mundri West County in Western Equatoria State.

Aguer told Radio Tamazuj in an interview that peace and reconciliation between the local community and SPLA is very important, saying he welcomes any step that will return the County to normal so the population can return to their homes after fleeing from insecurity.

“The important part in the agreement is the general amnesty from the two sides so that life can return to normal in Mundri,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bishop Alex Zara confirmed a peace deal between the SPLA army and the local community in Mundri on Sunday against the backdrop of insecurity that forced a large number of citizens to run to the bush.

Zara told Radio Tamazuj that the agreement was concluded with prayers in a church in Mundri County. The bishop revealed that the agreement will contributes toward the return of stability to Mundri County so the local community can return to their homes.
